Hi, I'm Michelle, the "baker" behind I BAKE, YOU BAKE. This site was inspired by friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances who encouraged me to take my hobby and love of baking to the next level...and by that, I mean a blog. Because why not?
I'm not a professional baker -- I'm just a recreational Pinterest stalker who missed having a creative outlet. I've always tinkered in design, but my career path shifted over the years and now my days are spent talking about product requirements and code rather than color theory and aesthetics.
Enter baking. Like a lot of hobbyists, I started baking for a specific occasion -- my daughter's second birthday party. I spent hours on those cookies, and while they weren't anything to brag about, I really enjoyed the process and couldn't wait to make more. With that, I just started trying new recipes whenever I had a reason to celebrate or needed a stress reliever. Now here I am, two years later, finding excuses to bake at least once a week.
I BAKE, YOU BAKE chronicles my baking journey as I continue to fine tune my baking skills though Internet tutorials, magazines, cookbooks, and television shows...along with a good amount of trial and error. The goal is to inspire you to try your hand at one or more of the recipes, because if I, someone who hasn't cooked a meal fancier than spaghetti in my 30+ years, can make an awe-inspiring cupcake, you certainly can, too (and should!).
